2009 WASLWashington Assessment of Student Learning Scores (3rd, 4th, & 5th Grades)
2009 was the last year for students to be assessed using the WASL. Starting in 2010, Washington state will introduce a new assessment. Math and writing have been the focus of our Continuous School Improvement Plan (C-SIP) for the past 4 years. Science was added as an area of focus in the 2008-09 school year. Our 2009 WASL scores were as follows:
- Third Grade:
- Reading: 76% of students at/above Standard
- Math: 79% of students at/above Standard
- Fourth Grade:
- Reading: 90% of students at/above Standard
- Math: 77% of students at/above Standard
- Writing: 80% of students at/above Standard
- Fifth Grade:
- Reading: 74% of students at/above Standard
- Math: 70% of students at/above Standard
- Science: 72% of students at/above Standard
The WASL is only given at specific grade levels, and the scores reflect achievement for only those students in that particular grade level on that given year.
DRA Developmental Reading Assessment
Language tests are no longer given. Students in grades 1 & 2 were previously assessed in reading using the DRA (Developmental Reading Assessment), which was used for 8-10 years by the Seattle Public Schools as a measure of students' reading achievement.
Teacher's College (TC) Reading AssessmentGreen Lake now follows the TC Reader's and Writer's Workshop and administers the TC Reading assessment at least 3 times per year in grades K-5 to assess reading levels and measure reading growth. |
