Ask yourself: as an adult, do you fully understand the process and importance of voting in all elections? For many of us - that answer is "maybe" or "not really" or..."no". Can you imagine what that answer would have been if we had the opportunity to learn about the HOW and WHY of voting, as children? How about voter turnout - what might those numbers look like today? Political landscape? Even school experience based on funding?
This year, the GLES PTA Social Justice & Equity Committee is participating in a modified version of Washington State's Secretary of State's (SOS) Student Mock Elections. And heck - we as parents may learn a thing or two, as we take this journey with our children to becoming responsible, well-informed residents of Washington State and the greater United States!
How will it work?
