Based on the latest guidance from King County we have decided to exercise an abundance of caution and cancel our annual in-person PTA school auction and redirect to an online auction. This was an incredibly hard decision, as the auction is by far our school's largest fundraiser. Our PTA budget is dependent on this funding to keep the services and experiences that make our school so special, beyond what our state is willing to fund, such as our full-time school counselor, music teacher, scholarships for enrichment programs and field trips, Islandwood 4th grade camp, assemblies, swim program, and more.
Still want to support our school? We have you covered and still need your support! Please continue to save the date of March 21. As we shift to an online auction, we still have an opportunity to take advantage of the hundreds of amazing donated items via silent auction, buy it now, parent and kid parties, teacher experiences, live auction, and direct give Raise the Paddle. An added incentive, there is no ticket required! Now EVERYONE in our school community will have the opportunity to participate and support our school, no matter how big or small. Stay tuned as we're hammering out details and will send more information next week.
Already bought your tickets? You will receive an email with more details from the auction committee.
But I'll miss meeting new people and spending time with GLES community at the Auction, what now? Our Green Lake Elementary community is core to who we are and what makes our school so special. As much as we'll be sad to miss our auction party, we are still committed to bringing our community together toward the end of the school year when it's a bit safer to gather large groups. This will be a fun party that you won't want to miss!
We are counting on you to help with our fundraising efforts and we're proud of our school's courage for moving so quickly in doing the right thing to preserve the health, safety, and well-being of our community.
TOGETHER WE ROCK!
