Volunteers Needed in the School Library Would you like to help with the following duties? · Filing books back on the library shelves · Repair books, replace spine labels · Assist with checking books in/out Our school library would benefit from volunteer time, be it large or small. Unfortunately, toddlers do not have the patience to wait while parents are busy with library business, but if you have some free moments to give to the library, it would be appreciated. Volunteers needed for Global Reading Challenge 2011
The Global Reading Challenge is a reading quiz game that is sponsored by the Seattle Public Library to encourage children in grades 4-5 to read a variety of books and have fun challenging teams of students to recall facts and events in these selected books. This will be Green Lake School's 8th year of involvement in the Challenge.
We are seeking two or three parents to assist with the Global Reading Challenge. You will be asked to attend the meetings at school, once a week during lunch recess (Wed or Thur), and at that time conduct study groups to support student’s success with the challenge. Also, you would read 5 of the novels and take notes, which can be used during the study groups.
Global Reading Challenge runs from Nov. through mid March. The first round of challenges is scheduled for mid Feb.
Mrs. Ryerson would appreciate your assistance with this popular program. Please contact her at school (252-5331) or e-mail: jryerson@seattleschools.org
Donations for the Library - USB Flash Drive
The library would appreciate some 2 MB USB flash drives for students to use at school. We do save work on the school wide system, but there are times when students wish to save a quick photo or catch something from another machine to add to their work. A Flash Drive would save time during our busy day. ----- Mrs. Ryerson (252-5331)
