Registration for North Central Little League is now open

posted Jan 8, 2012 9:53 PM by Tracy Tavis

NCLL is a Double Goal league, which means competing/winning is important, but we also focus on creating a positive, character-building experience. Our focus on using baseball as not just a sport, but as a venue to learn about life and make friends has proven successful and we are excited for the upcoming season. We are also offering an “all girls” track at a younger age level.

For more information and to register, please go to the NCLL website.

Art coming to the Olallie Garden

posted Dec 12, 2011 5:53 PM by Tracy Tavis

Hello Friends of Olallie Garden,

This weekend our Garden Club and some hearty volunteers will be prepping the garden for the delivery and install of our Public Sculpture Main Entrance pieces.  We will have them installed on Monday December 19th which will give them a few days to settle in before the kids come back from break.

Our pieces are metal representations of Native American berry picking baskets.  In our wonderful Seattle weather they will rust out to a beautiful reddish brown.  There will be two "baskets" that will be positioned strategically at the main path to draw visitors into the garden.

Our baskets were created by local metal artist Tom Flood and we are thrilled to be adding this finishing touch to Olallie.

Regards,

Green Lake Garden Club

After School Hoops® is a weekday afternoon basketball program for aspiring young players.

The one hour instructional sessions combine fundamental skills instruction with organized team competition with the goal of providing an enjoyable and educational after school athletic event. Developing players benefit by improving their individual skills such as passing, dribbling, shooting, rebounding, and defending while, at the same time, learning how to work within the framework of a team.

Boys and girls of all skill levels are encouraged to join. One of the many merits of After School Hoops® is that it provides school children with an organized after school event at which they can learn, socialize, and most of all, have fun. Parents and teachers often express concern that idle and unsupervised after school hours provide too many negative temptations for their children. Using athletics as the vehicle,

After School Hoops® provides children with an opportunity to improve their overall physical fitness, develop sportsmanship and athletic integrity, and gain an understanding of the game of basketball.
