STEM Fair
Each spring, Green Lake Elementary celebrates science, technology, engineering, and math at our annual STEM Fair. Instead of a traditional science fair where students prepare projects at home, our STEM Fair is a reverse‑science fair: volunteers and community partners set up hands‑on demonstrations, and students explore the booths during the school day. This model is more equitable, more accessible, and a lot of fun.

Who’s It For
All Green Lake Elementary students participate during the school day.
How to Participate
Students do not need to prepare anything at home. During the school day, classes rotate through the STEM Fair and visit booths at their own pace.
What to Expect
- A gym filled with hands‑on STEM stations
- Demonstrations and activities led by volunteers, teachers, and community groups
- Opportunities for students to touch, build, test, observe, and experiment
- A low‑pressure, curiosity‑driven environment
The goal is to spark wonder and make STEM feel accessible to every student.
Volunteer Opportunities
The STEM Fair depends on a team of volunteers to bring hands‑on science, technology, engineering, and math experiences to life. There are opportunities for every comfort level, no STEM expertise required.
Ways to help include:
- Hosting a demonstration or activity. Lead a simple hands‑on experiment, engineering challenge, math puzzle, or interactive demo. We can help you brainstorm ideas if you’re not sure where to start.
- Supporting roles. Assist another volunteer or community partner by helping students rotate through activities, manage materials, or guide small groups.
- Setup and cleanup. Help transform the space before the fair begins and reset it afterward.
Whether you can help for an hour or the whole day, your support makes a huge difference in creating a fun, curiosity‑driven STEM experience for our students.
