Bike Everywhere (and to School) Month
Each May, Green Lake Elementary celebrates Bike Everywhere (and to School) Month through a series of activities that encourage students and families to bike, roll, or walk to school. It's a fun way to build healthy habits, explore the neighborhood, and celebrate active commuting.
Tune up your family’s bicycles now and make a plan to participate in the many Bike Everywhere Month activities GLES has planned during the month of May.
Bingo cards and additional details will be sent home in your student's backpacks in late April before we kick off the May events.
GLES Bike Bingo
All Month Long
Students complete biking or rolling activities throughout May to fill in their Bingo sheets. Classes compete for the most BINGO's (prorated to account for class size), and the winning class earns an in‑class donut party from Mighty‑O Donuts! Prizes are also awarded to students who complete the most squares.
Congrats to the 2025 Winning Class: Mrs. Merlin (2nd grade)

Bike Trains
Year-round, or whenever it works for you
We invite families to form and manage a “Bike Train” - a small group of students and adults who ride to school together along a shared route. Bike Trains are especially popular in April, May, and June. Each group sets its own route and schedule.
If you form a Bike Train or have questions, please email garettcycles@gmail.com. You can also read the Bike to School Train Planning Guide for tips on getting started.
