MultiโArts Committee Chair
This position is given a budget for planning and bringing special arts programs and projects into our school. Past chairs have organized:
- Worked with our PE teacher for "PE takeover" movement arts (Hip Hop and other dance styles)
- Reflections Art program submissions
- Visiting artists
- And more!
Social Justice / Equity Committee
Wide latitude to choose and coordinate SJE programming. Examples include:
- Plan events with our sister school, Rising Star Elementary
- Black history month events
- Book clubs or other affinity groups
- Whatever interests and inspires you...the sky is the limit!
Facebook Admin
Help maintain our PTA Facebook presence, coordinate with website admin on updates, approve new member requests to ensure they are verified community members.
Playground Watering & Maintenance Helper
Attend playground work parties, water plants, and help with occasional playground maintenance tasks.
Olallie Garden Helper
Attend garden work parties to help water, weed, plant, and maintain the garden.
Swim Lesson Helper
Help walk kids to/from the pool, assist in locker rooms, and support instructors during swim lessons. We especially need male volunteers for lockerโroom support.
Auction Class Art Project
Help classes create art projects which will be featured in the annual auction.
Dragonet — Medium Effort (~20 hours/year)
Great for families who want a recurring role without a big time commitment.
Library Book Repair Crew
Help our librarian repair torn pages and broken bindings, and cover new additions. Repairs need to be done on site, but covering new books can be done at home.
Room Parent
Support your classroom teacher with communication and coordination. You will have support from other room parents and the Room Parent Coordinator.
Playground Steward
Coordinate efforts to keep the playground tidy, well-maintained, and safe. Organize seasonal work parties.
Garden Steward
Coordinate efforts to keep the garden in good condition and encourage its use by students, family, and staff. Organize garden work parties.
Ultimate Frisbee Program Coordinator
Coordinate the afterโschool Ultimate Frisbee program in partnership with the Enrichment Program Coordinator.
Sir RoastโaโLot — High Effort (~30 hours/year)
For families ready to take on a leadership or planning role.
PTA Board — Development Chair
Organize the Walk & Roll-a-Thon and Dragon Hunt. Oversee the Tree Sale and Auction (there are separate committees that run the auction and tree sale). Represent our fundraising strategy in board meetings.
PTA Board — Treasurer (1st Year)
Shadow the current treasurer and learn the role to support financial operations. Be prepared to take over as Treasurer in the second year.
PTA Board — President (1st Year)
Shadow the current president and prepare to lead next year. Be prepared to take over as President in the second year.
Weekly Grocery Program Apprentice
Pick up supplemental food bags for our students from University Food Bank and deliver to the front office on Thursdays so they can be sent home with students.
AfterโSchool Enrichment Program Manager
Coordinate afterโschool enrichment programs. Recruit volunteers and manage vendors, oversee program logistics and ensure a safe and engaging environment for students.
Planning & Coordination Roles - One Day Events
Dragon Hunt Committee
Help print and roll Dragon Hunt hand-outs. Assist with purchasing and distributing prizes.
Planning & Coordination Roles - Long-Running Events
Tree Sale Committee Lead
Support planning and logistics for the Holiday Tree Sale. Includes delegating work to volunteers, keeping trees and sale items in-stock, and managing event setup and teardown.
Yearbook Coordinators
Coordinate picture collection from GLES community, create and distribute yearbook with help from 5th grade volunteers and existing software.
5th Grade Promotion Coordinators
Fifth grade parents who are interested in organizing the week-long celebration for our soon-to-be 6th graders! Includes class swag, ice cream party, perhaps a neighborhood parade - it's truly up to you!
Auction Committee
Help plan and run the annual auction. Includes recruiting and managing other volunteers to handle procurement, decorations, catering, venue, signage, etc.
