Meet the PTA
PTA Mission
The Green Lake Elementary School PTA works in partnership with families, staff, and the wider community to support every child’s learning, growth, and well‑being. Our mission is to promote the education, health, safety, and success of all students at Green Lake Elementary.
We are an all‑volunteer nonprofit organization made up of parents, caregivers, and staff. Together, we help fill the gaps that school budgets and staffing can’t always cover, and we create opportunities that make our school a vibrant, connected community.
What the PTA Supports
The PTA provides time, funding, and volunteer power for programs and services that directly benefit students and families. Examples include:
- Student support - Funding key staff positions such as the assistant principal, school counselor, instructional aides, and playground supervisors.
- After‑school enrichment - Offering a wide range of classes each quarter through our Enrichment Program.
- Food security - Providing weekend groceries and emergency support for families experiencing food insecurity.
- Community events - Hosting a wide variety of field trips and events including 5th grade camping trips, ice skating, the STEM Fair, Family Fun Nights, and the beloved annual school play.
- Special projects - Supporting school improvements, memorial projects, and other needs that arise throughout the year.
- Volunteers in action - Parents and caregivers serve as tutors, room parents, event organizers, accountants, tour guides, gardeners, swim helpers, and more.
Our work is guided by the belief that every child deserves a joyful, inclusive, and well‑supported school experience.
How We Work
The PTA collaborates closely with:
- School administration and staff
- Seattle Public Schools district partners
- Community organizations and local businesses
We raise funds, coordinate volunteers, and run programs that enrich school life. Every family is welcome to participate - whether that means bringing food for a potluck, trimming tree trunks at the Tree Sale, sewing a costume, helping a classroom create a masterpiece for the Auction, chaperoning a camping trip, or lending a hand in a way that fits your time and talents. There’s a place for every skill, including the ones you didn’t know you had.
The Green Lake Elementary PTA is a proud member of the Washington State PTA (WSPTA).
Get Involved
Whether you have five minutes, a free afternoon, or a special skill you love to share, there’s a way to plug in. Explore volunteer opportunities, join the PTA, or reach out with ideas - every contribution strengthens our community.
